"A leader is a dealer in hope."
-Napoleon Bonaparte
The longest-serving U.S. president, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt led the country through its greatest economic crisis.
Roosevelt’s confidence in making difficult decisions under pressure, courage in taking calculated risks to implement radical policies, and wide-reaching empathy and care for the American people made him an exceptional leader during the Great Depression. Through his leadership, Roosevelt helped the country survive the Depression, reformed the economy, raised America's morale and confidence in its government, redefined the American presidency, and united Americans for years to come. Although Roosevelt's leadership during the Great Depression wasn't perfect, it has served as a valuable example for leaders to follow. |
